The tile cutter appeared to be a used product even though I was led to believe that it would be new. I found shards of porcelain tile that were embedded between the rod in the base and the base foam. I also found tile dust on it. Prior to using the cutter, I placed a framing square against the fence and checked for square in relation to the rod. It was out of square by quite a bit. I suspect the tile cutter had been bought by someone and then returned to the seller because it was cutting inaccurately. Instead of going through the hassle of returning it, I fixed it by loosening the four nuts under the fence that attach it to the base. I then nudged the fence with a rubber mallet until it became square and I tightened the nuts. I then made test cuts on an 8” x 40” porcelain tile and I scored and snapped 2” wide pieces the full length without issues. The cuts were perfect. I also plan on applying rubber feet to the bottom of the aluminum extrusion base to help protect the surfaces on which I will be using the cutter. The online pictures of the cutter showed that it came with a black cutting guide that could be adjusted for making angled cuts, but I received a thin silver colored cutting guide that does not adjust for angles. Another problem I had was with the outrigger style support feet. The support feet brackets would not move along the aluminum grooves on the sides of the base. I sprayed dry lube the full length of the grooves and nudged the brackets until they could slide freely from one end to the other. I do not plan on using the laser so I have not checked it for accuracy.I have owned many different types of tile cutters from mechanical to manual. I needed a tile cutter that could accommodate large size tiles. The tile material I needed this cutter was granet and it had no problem cutting straight cuts which saved me a lot of time. The unit is very large and a little heavy for what I'm use to using but thats alright. I have no regrets purchasing this tile cutter and highly recommend it.The price is tough to beat if you need to cut large-format tiles. We bought this after struggling with a water-lubricated circular saw tile cutter that did the job, but made a huge mess and took a long time to cut 2' x 4' ceramic tiles. This cutter did a good job at scoring and breaking tiles along a straight line, after we got the hang of it, and despite the terrible and skimpy manual that was written by someone who mistakenly thought that they knew how to write English. The laser guide was mis-aligned and we broke the first tile trying to follow the bad directions.I did a search online and found a video for a very similar tile cutter distributed by a different company. The video showed how to align the laser guide and to properly score and break tiles. After that, we successfully cut most of the tiles we needed for the job at hand. This tile cutter ought to work for you too, provided you realize that you are not going to get a super high-quality tool for such a low price.Not bad for the moneyit seems to a great cutter but i had purchased a used one and it was not usable. it seems when someone returned it - amazon - or the seller did not inspect it, and i got the defective one.EXCELENTE PRODUCTO Y MUY BUEN PRECIO Tengo casi 12 meses usando este producto. As long as your a tile setter you should have no problems with itSo far done one bedroom with this, still have the rest of the house to do, but so far, very easy to use and very clean cuts. Some of the longer cuts of thin strips break poorly, but I think that's due to the tile not the cutter.Super simple to use, makes very clean ... but sharp edges. Be sure to get a stone to take the edge off. I was cutting 1/2" ceramic 600x1200 on angles. I had issues at first with the tiles not breaking on the lines but after setting up a custom break to snap the tiles it worked. Bottom line this thing made my life much easier than using a grinder. My only wish is the glides where heavier duty so they didn't flex in the middle while cutting .This cutter is a piece of garbage. It doesn't cut 24"×48" porcelain tiles. I got bunch of scrapped tiles. Now i am supposed to pay $70 return shipping cost. Stay away from this tool, save your money and time.actually it's cutting pretty good, but you have to mark tile on both ends. if you try to cut it with one mark you're gonna be out about 1".for the price it's OK, you don't work with 4'Tile too oftenImpossible to cut large format porcelain tile without cracking.
